Turning Dreams into Goals

Since I don’t make New Year’s resolutions for various reasons, I make monthly goals. I’m going to show you how I make my goals so in return you can make and accomplish goals you set.

  • Step 1: Think and write down concrete goals for your life. I only make three per month because that’s all I can manage. I make a goal for each category, which is personal, career, and financial.
  • Step 2: Make sure you write them down!
    • Goal 1: I want to lose 5 pounds.
    • Goal 2: I want to submit my registration form in order to take the NCE.
    • Goal 3: I want to get out of debt.
  • Step 3: How am I going to lose 5 pounds? What do I need to submit my registration form in order to take the NCE? What type of debt do I want to get out of and do I have the budget under control to make that happen?
  • Step 4: Look at those goals and think about the 5 W’s and How.
    • Who wants to lose five pounds? Who wants to submit and take the NCE? Who wants to get out of debt?
    • What can I do to lose five pounds? What can I do to submit my registration form in order to take the NCE? What can I do to get out of debt?
    • When do I want to lose 5 pounds? When should I submit my registration form to take the NCE? When do I want to get out of debt?
    • Where do I want to lose five pounds? Where do I submit the registration form in order to take the NCE? Where do I want to get out of debt?
    • Why do I want to lose weight? Why do I want to submit the registration form to take the NCE? Why do I want to get out of debt?
    • How can I lose five pounds? How can I submit the registration form in order to take the NCE? How can I get out of debt?
  • Step 5: Write the 5 W’s and the How underneath each goal. This is your action plan, your blueprint, the I know what I’m doing! plan.
