I always made a big deal with the holidays, the parties, the time with friends and family, but everything went back to normal after the last gift opened, the toast to the night was said and drank, the closing of the end of a chapter…
Then just like the sun always brings a new day that’s how it should feel at the start of a new year. I made the same New Year’s Resolutions for a good portion of my adult life. For example, lose weight, get out of debt, learn how to budget your money, blah, blah, and more of the things we never do. We always start the new year off with a CAN DO attitude! a YES I CAN DO THIS attitude! a positive overly optimistic attitude until we become jaded and throw the resolutions out the window, down the drain; just like yesterday’s garbage.
That’s why I stopped making New Year’s resolutions. Now I make monthly resolutions or what I like to call them monthly goals. I don’t really like the word resolution anyway. What does resolution mean anyway? It’s a noun meaning to make a formal expression of an opinion or intention made. That shows like you are doomed to failed anyway. An intention made but never achieved? Hmm, I don’t like the sound of that.
Losing weight is the most popular New Year’s Resolution made. It is in my household. However, we turn to diet pills, and fast fixes to lose the weight fast. However, it you didn’t gain 20 pounds overnight did you? You’re not going to lose 20 pounds overnight anyway! In our society of the I want, the Me Me Me, the I expect it to be done overnight society we live in you are not going to see any weight loss within a day. That’s why you had to stick with it for at least 21 days in order to see progress. That’s when it becomes a habit.
So now, you won’t find me making New Year’s Resolutions because I don’t make resolutions, I make monthly goals. You can read about my December monthly goal update. Look forward to my post on January monthly goals coming out tomorrow!
Hope Everyone has a safe and happy New Years’ Eve!
As always, kisses on the peace sign fingers and love…
